Levitra (generic name vardenafil) is a medication that is usually used to combat erectile dysfunction in adult men. The medication causes the relaxation of muscles and increased flow of blood to particular areas of the body, and can thus be used to stimulate and maintain an erection. Use of Levitra is not advised if the patient currently has or has had any heart ailments. It is not advisable to take this medication more than once a day.

Side Effects

Levitra has been associated with sudden vision loss as a side effect. Emergency helps is recommended if this occurs. Other known side effects include pain or numbness during sexual activity, tingling sensations in the chest or arms, swelling of hands or feet, and fainting spells.

Warnings

Take Levitra as needed, but do not take it in larger doses than recommended by your doctor. Doses are to be taken with a full glass of water, and can be taken with or without food. Typically, Levitra should be taken about 60 minutes before sexual activity and should not be taken more than once per 24-hour period.
