BuSpar (also known as Buspirone) is medication that affects the chemical receptors of the brain and central nervous system, designed to correct the imbalances that can lead to anxiety. BuSpar can be used to treat a variety of anxiety-related symptoms, such as fear, tension, irritability, irregular heartbeat, dizziness, and other physical symptoms.

Side Effects

BuSpar may cause an allergic reaction in some patients. Symptoms of such a reaction can include hives, swelling of various areas of the face and head, and difficulty breathing. Other side effects of BuSpar use may include mild depression, unusual behavior, loss of coordination, uneven heart rate, and fainting spells.

Warnings

BuSpar should only be taken as directed by your doctor. This drug is usually only taken for short periods of time. Consult your doctor before taking BuSpar for more than 4 weeks. Some tablets may need to be broken before being taken; these are usually marked to facilitate breaking. Doctors will usually provide instructions on how much of the tablet to take. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered.
